Frequently asked questions
Program
First register with WeaveGrid and fill out an application on the PGE website
Once your EV is connected in the registration process and you've been enrolled, your charging will be optimally scheduled each time you plug in at home.
WeaveGrid identifies the lowest-cost periods you can charge in order to meet your upcoming driving needs (while considering overall grid conditions) and automatically schedules your EV to charge during those periods.
You'll receive notifications about your upcoming schedule through your preferred method (web and/or SMS texts) and can skip your proposed charge schedule if needed, but this may impact your eligibility for the seasonal bill credit.
Yes! It is risk-free and you can unenroll at any time.
There are two seasons each year: October–March and April–September. Each time you plug in at home, we build a charging schedule that avoids the busiest hours on the local grid and, if you're on Time of Day pricing, favors your lowest-cost times.
At the end of each season, we look at your Smart Score. If it's 60% or above, you'll get a $25 credit on your PGE bill. You can check your score any time on your dashboard
Your Smart Score is the share of your at-home charging that happens on a WeaveGrid schedule. We divide the energy your vehicle used charging at home on schedule by all the energy it used charging at home during the season.
Charging only counts toward your score when we were able to build a schedule for it. If we couldn't — because you plugged in too close to your "Ready by" time, or because Low Battery Protection topped you up right away — that charging is left out of the calculation entirely. It won't count against you.
Because the score is based on energy rather than the number of sessions, a long charge outside your schedule affects it more than a short one.
Two things raise your score: plugging in whenever you get home, so we can build a schedule for that session, and letting the schedule run when you don't need the car sooner. Plugging in daily also helps your battery health, as most manufacturers recommend.
Currently, the Smart Charging Program only accepts GM and Tesla vehicles for participation:
Tesla — all models, all years, all trims
Cadillac
LYRIQ (2024–2026)
OPTIQ (2025–2026)
VISTIQ (2026)
Escalade IQ (2025–2026)

Silverado (2024–2026)

GMC
Sierra (2024–2026)
Hummer (2024–2026)
You can use any home charging equipment to participate, including a Level 1 (120v) charger, but we recommend a Level 2 (240v) charger for faster, more efficient charging.
If you're using a smart charger, we recommend not setting a charging schedule through the charger but rather through our WeaveGrid platform to ensure we can optimize your charging.
We are continually adding more EVs and chargers- join the waitlist if you want to be notified when we add yours!

Automatic Smart Charging
Each time you plug in your car, WeaveGrid will generate a smart schedule that charges your car by your ready-by time.
The schedule takes into account a variety of live signals from Portland General Electric such as energy cost, grid stress, and renewable energy.
While it's best to stick to the schedule as much as possible, you can opt out and charge immediately at any time.
WeaveGrid balances EV charging for you and your neighbors in coordination with other electricity use to reduce strain on the grid, reducing environmental impact of charging and keeping electricity reliable and affordable for everyone.

When signing up, you will be prompted to sign into your electric vehicle (EV) or home charging station account to establish a connection and enable WeaveGrid to receive data on when, how much, and where EV charging occurs.
While this data is shared with Portland General Electric in order to provide program benefits, we do not share your EV or personal data with third parties.
WeaveGrid is committed to securing users’ data. We maintain stringent data security procedures to prevent details about our users and their charging and driving patterns from being misused or disclosed to unauthorized parties.
The WeaveGrid platform uses SSL/TLS encryption to secure communications with various external data sources, such as utilities and vehicles. WeaveGrid also uses AES-256 encryption for securing personal information (PI), personally identifiable information (PII), and data at rest, hosted in our own virtual private cloud (VPC). Additionally, our information security management program is aligned with industry best practices and highly regarded IT governance frameworks such as ISO:27001, SOC2, and NIST CSF. This means we uphold the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer data in the utmost regard.
Your vehicle or charger tells WeaveGrid when your EV is charging after you have established a connection to your vehicle or home charging station.
